Deepdale - a brief history

Deepdale is the home of football & Preston North End Football Club. North End's earliest records can be dated back to 1863, at this date North End played cricket rather than football.

It was 15 years later, in 1878 when North End played their first match at Deepdale losing 1-0 to Eagley. In the 15 years prior to Preston losing to Eagley, they played various sports including lacrosse, rounders and even rugby.

Another 11 years down the line in the 1888/89 season North End made history. North End were made one of the founder members of the football leauge and capped off the historic season by wining the league championship along with the F.A Cup.
